It was a long shot that former-President Trump would be convicted by the Senate, despite insurmountable evidence. But rather than focus on anger, let’s learn from it.
1. A lesson to Democrats: we’ve supported problematic politicians before. We must reaffirm that there is no place in democracy for those that flout the Constitution. Trump is an example of what we must never allow to flourish in our own party.
2. We need to protect the American people and our system of voting to ensure we prevent these travesties from taking place again: We must support HR 1 (For the People Act), HR 4 (John Lewis Voting Rights Act), and HR 51 (D.C. Statehood).
