DC Snow Day Statehood Triathlon

While at home today between shoveling your sidewalk (it’s the law & the morally right thing to do) and sledding (it’s fun) you should take a few minutes to see if you can complete the DC SNOW DAY STATEHOOD TRIATHLON. Please do each of the items below and as a token of appreciation for your effort we hope to award you with full congressional representation and irrevocable autonomy over our local affairs sometime in the near future.

Here are your Statehood Triathlon tasks:

1.       Sign our DC statehood petition. It’s simple, substantive, and takes no time at all. If we get enough signatures Credo Action will push the petition to their email list nationwide which would be a huge free push for our cause. So sign it and share it with friends now: http://www.credomobilize.com/petitions/support-statehood-for-the-633-000-citizens-of-dc

2.       Contact at least five targeted offices in the House and in the Senate:  Our group, Neighbors United for DC Statehood, has already met with over 50 House & 50 Senate offices this year. While some of our meetings have resulted in co-sponsorships on the statehood bills we need to put pressure on those offices that are still not on the bills. The more of us emailing these offices the better. Please take a look at our House (House113th_ContactList) & Senate (Senate_Priority_Outreach.pdf) contact lists and send staffers a brief but specific emails asking that their boss join as a cosponsor to the New Columbia Admission Act. Here are some great attachments for emails on the statehood bill:  DCStatehoodInfoNCAA_Sum_113NCAA_FAQ_113; NewColumbia_StateMap1

3.       Through Email, Facebook, Twitter, or some other internet thing I don’t know about ask your friends and family around the country to contact their members of the House & Senate and ask them to support the statehood bills as well.

In less than an hour you could probably complete the DC SNOW DAY STATEHOOD TRIATHLON so it’s best to do it early and get it out of the way. Please share with us the offices you’ve contacted by emailing us a unitedforstatehood@gmail.com

Stay warm, stay safe, and stay active,

Josh Burch
