Often people say they’d like to help the statehood cause but don’t have much time and are looking for some suggestions of what they can do. Below are four easy ways to lend your voice to the statehood cause three of which can be done from the comfort of your own home. We encourage you to participate in all of the four activities if possible, two are as easy as clicking a few keys on your computer:
- PETITION: Please sign this pro-statehood petition below and ask your friends and family to do so as well. Congress rarely acts out of benevolence thus we must find ways to demonstrate widespread for this cause in the District and across the country. This petition is one such way to do that so please SIGN IT AND SHARE IT. http://org.credoaction.com/petitions/support-statehood-for-the-633-000-citizens-of-dc. Please share on your own Facebook page if you have one, thru email, or Twitter.
- STATEHOOD RALLY: On August 24th, 2013 we need you all to take part in the statehood rally at the WWI Memorial near the Tidal Basin & the Lincoln Memorial. Please sign up here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/7736870187. Please make a sign listing your neighborhood with a pro-statehood message. It’s important that we send a clear visual signal that the neighborhoods around the city are getting organized and focused on statehood. - SENATE OUTREACH: Next week we’ll be meeting with our 50th Senate office since Nov. 2012 which is a great accomplish for our all-volunteer effort (with a bunch of House meetings too). We do need to keep the pressure on offices so please send a quick email to the staff listed in the link below and encourage their boss (Senator Xxx) to cosponsor S. 132, the New Columbia Admission Act. We need to keep the pressure up on Senate offices and articulate that we, the citizens of the District and our friends in the 50 states, want statehood and nothing less. The more of us emailing or calling offices the better. Here’s our target list: Senate_Priority_Outreach.pdf
There are thousands of ways to help the DC Statehood cause but the above list of four are great ways to join and expand existing and on-going efforts. We need you all to join with us.
